Why Are People We Trusted Turning on President Trump? (Ignorance Leads the Way)
Proverbs 27:12 says, “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty."
It’s not rocket science; Iran cannot have nuclear capabilities. Yet, some people we once trusted and respected are turning a blind eye to the threat that Iran poses. The rhetoric from figures like Tucker Carlson and Marjorie Taylor Greene, who I thought had more sense, has left me scratching my head. President Trump knew what he was doing when it came to Iran, and Israel’s actions are not just for their own survival—they’re for ours too. But many are speaking out against taking the necessary steps to protect both nations, and it's baffling.
We need to be honest with ourselves. Iran’s regime is hell-bent on wiping Israel off the map. Their leaders openly declare “Death to Israel,” and “Death to America” is right behind it. This isn’t just political posturing; it’s their stated goal. Allowing a nation with such violent, hostile intentions to gain nuclear capabilities would be beyond foolish. It would be like finding out your neighbor wanted to kill you and then buying him a gun. No sane person would do that. But this is exactly what the Obama administration set in motion.
The Iranian People: Oppressed and Yearning for Change
While the Iranian regime is focused on terror, oppression, and nuclear weapons, let’s not forget the Iranian people—the ones suffering under this dictatorship—the ones who long for freedom. The people of Iran have been living under the thumb of oppressive leaders for decades. The corrupt regime has drowned out their voices, but they are not silent. Thousands of Iranians have risked everything to protest for their freedom and a better life.
I’m sure the Iranian people are tired of living in fear, of being subjected to a government that holds their rights hostage, and yearn for the evil that governs them to be overthrown. This is not about a conflict between nations—it’s about people who are desperate for a better future. And while the regime clings to its power, the spirit of the people can’t be easily silenced. They are very likely seeing light at the end of the tunnel.
The Obama Administration’s Role
The Obama administration’s nuclear deal with Iran was a monumental mistake. Under the guise of diplomacy, they handed Iran billions of dollars, lifted sanctions, and allowed the country to advance its nuclear program. While President Obama praised the deal as a step toward peace, the reality was that it was a step toward the destruction of Israel and, potentially, America.
The funds given to Iran have been used to fund terrorism, destabilize the Middle East, and give more power to the Iranian regime. What was seen as a temporary peace deal was, in fact, a dangerous appeasement that fed into the hands of a dictatorship hell-bent on global destruction.
We cannot afford to make the same mistake again. God’s Word warns us against being complicit in evil and allowing threats to go unchecked, as stated in the subtitle of this post. We are seeing that danger in real-time. Iran’s ambitions are clear. Ignoring it would be beyond foolish. But choosing to confront it—standing with Israel and taking decisive action—is the right choice, even if it’s hard or unpopular.
Why Israel Matters
Israel is not just another country. It is the Holy Land, the place where God's promises to His people were fulfilled. As Christians, we are called to stand with Israel. Genesis 12:3 says, “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse.” This is a direct promise from God to Abraham and his descendants, which includes the modern nation of Israel. Our relationship with Israel matters, not just for their survival, but for our own.
It’s easy to get lost in the political arguments and media noise, but we cannot lose sight of the bigger picture. The Bible tells us that Israel’s existence is tied directly to God’s purposes for the world. If we stand against Israel, we are standing against God Himself. It’s that simple.
The Danger of Appeasement
We are living in a time when appeasement is the prevailing attitude. People want to avoid conflict, thinking that by giving Iran a “chance” or negotiating with them, we can create peace. But history has shown that appeasement never works when dealing with tyrants.
Look back to the Munich Agreement of 1938, when world leaders tried to avoid war by allowing Nazi Germany to annex part of Czechoslovakia. That decision only emboldened Adolf Hitler and led to World War II. Similarly, the Iran nuclear deal was an act of appeasement that has emboldened Iran to continue its quest for nuclear weapons.
The Bible speaks clearly about the dangers of appeasement. Proverbs 28:4 says, “Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law resist them.” Appeasement in the face of evil does not bring peace; it encourages destruction. Israel is not just fighting for its own survival; it is fighting for the safety and security of the West. Ignoring that fact is not just dangerous; it’s irresponsible.
President Trump’s Strong Stand
We’ve seen what happens when America stands with Israel and takes a firm stance against Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Under President Trump, we saw real progress. The U.S. moved its embassy to Jerusalem, recognizing it as Israel’s capital. Trump took bold action in withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal, imposing strict sanctions, and holding Iran accountable for its actions. It was a step in the right direction—a step that said we will no longer stand idly by while evil spreads.
Isaiah 41:10 gives us God’s promise: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” We are called to stand firm, especially when the stakes are high. It’s not about political partisanship; it’s about standing on the side of righteousness, protecting the innocent, and ensuring that evil does not triumph.
The Battle for Truth
The current divide in our nation, especially regarding President Trump and his foreign policy decisions, is baffling. It’s disturbing to see those we once trusted turning against him, questioning his approach to Iran and Israel. It’s important to ask, why is this happening?
Perhaps, for some, it’s driven by partisanship, but for others, it’s ignorance, plain and simple. The facts are clear, yet some choose to ignore them. It’s easier to follow the loudest voices and go with the crowd. But it’s unwise and doesn’t lead to the truth.
Romans 1:25 warns us about the dangers of exchanging the truth for a lie: “They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.” When we ignore the truth about what’s happening in Iran and Israel, when we overlook the clear dangers posed by Iran’s regime, we are falling into the trap of ignorance. We’re allowing the lies of appeasement and weakness to cloud our judgment.
Let’s be honest, people, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Iran must not be allowed to have nuclear weapons.
We cannot ignore the threats facing Israel and America. The Obama administration’s actions set the stage for the current crisis, and it’s up to us to make sure we don’t repeat history. President Trump’s strong stance against Iran and his unwavering support for Israel were crucial, and we should continue to stand with both. We must choose to see the danger for what it is and take action.
Ignorance leads the way to destruction, but wisdom leads us to safety.
As we navigate these uncertain times, let us pray for wisdom, discernment, and courage to stand for truth. May we, as Christians, heed the words of 1 Chronicles 12:32: “From the tribe of Issachar, there were 200 leaders of the tribe with their relatives. All these men understood the signs of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take.” May we understand the times in which we live and know how we should act to protect Israel, America, and the future of our faith.
Because the masses today hate immovable leaders, who refuse to cower to unjust opinions.
