What Are You Grateful for in 2024? (Here's a Few of My Blessings)
It's been a fantastic year! 2025 will be even more exciting.
What I am most grateful for in 2024 was settling into our new home site in RVICS Village in Smithville, Texas. For over three years, we lived the nomad life in our motorhomes—plural because we upgraded from our 40-footer to a 45-foot home on wheels. As much as we enjoyed our travels, we were ready to put some roots down.
After deciding to become full-time RVers, our plans changed many times. First, we planned to find some lakefront property to settle on in the summer. Then, we decided we didn't want the responsibility or cost of a permanent residence, so we decided to choose a couple of Thousand Trails parks to do seasonal leases on, spending the winter in one, summer in the other, and traveling the other months.
Tommy was sick of driving, and when we found the RVICS Village, we knew we'd found our home. I've written many posts about this wonderful place and will include links at the end of my newsletter. If you've contemplated the full-time RV life, you should find them valuable.
I'm so grateful for the new friendships we developed during our travels, our RVICS volunteer assignments, and in the Village. We've met the nicest people who share our hearts for Jesus and walk in His ways. The kinship that accompanies Christian relationships cannot be overstated. There is an immediate bond that can't be compared to our worldly connections. I'm also sharing the links to my stories about some of those at the end of my post.
I am so grateful for my health. When I was 40, I didn't picture myself as this active at 65. I'd seen my grandparents and great-aunts, who seemed so much older at my age. Exercise was never big on their list, and it makes all the difference. Being able to walk 10,000 steps daily on my walks blesses me more than I can say. For a gal who was diagnosed with a hereditary heart condition at 20, I'm doing fantastic. I wrote about my miracle recovery on Medium.
I may lose some of you here, but I am SO grateful for the people of faith who fought hard to put our President back in office. I have said many times that a Politician can't save the country. The "Church" needed to get off their duffs and vote for Biblical values, and they did in unprecedented numbers. Much of the credit for the sweeping vote for President Trump goes to the Biden Administration, which went off the rails and did more damage to our country than any previous one in history.
People of every race, creed, and color are sick of the terrible economy, open border policies, and lies that the Left spews every time they open their mouths. It would take hundreds of pages to list the lies and treasonous activities of the Biden administration that have been exposed.
If President Trump had not been cheated out of the 2020 election, we would have never known how bad these people are. It wasn't just Democrats either. There are so many people in the office who need to go. I'm grateful that our President knows what he's walking into this time and has chosen such amazing people for his cabinet. Sweeping and necessary changes will be made from day one.
I'm continuing to pray for a peaceful transition, but if I'm honest, the lack of rioting after the vote is disconcerting. I keep thinking that the loons on the Left who are so upset about the election are waiting until January 20th to go crazy.
My prayer for a "too big to rig" election was answered. That may be why it has been quiet compared to what I envisioned. Let's all pray that it stays that way. If you are one of those never-Trumpers who doesn't see the election as a blessing, give it a little time. The proof will be in the pudding, as the old saying goes.
If you are a subscriber or a follower, I am SO grateful for you. There is no bigger compliment than you sharing your time with me. We all have a lot on our plates, and our time is precious. That you squeeze me into your schedule means more to me than I can say. I hope my newsletter blesses you, offers encouragement and entertainment, and helps you to stretch your spiritual muscles. We are all a work in progress. I'm thrilled that we have each other with whom we can share our blessings and trials.
Have a blessed and Happy New Year. The best is yet to come!!
