How Do You Keep Your Mind on the Good Things When So Much Bad is Happening?
Without help from the Holy Spirit, I don’t stand a chance.
How much news are you watching? I try not to watch much. I tune into Newsmax and the Victory Channel, avoiding the pandering and lying channels. I can only watch short intervals of the real news channels without getting upset. I turn them off when my blood pressure starts to rise.
If you can stay calm while watching the news about the invasion America is experiencing at our borders, kudos to you. I assume you are someone of amazing faith or one with their heads in the sand. I’m hoping not the latter.
Keeping my mind on the good things is challenging, but as my faith grows, it gets easier. How are you handling the onslaught of bad news? Is the upcoming election weighing heavy on your mind? Do you wonder how bad things will be if we don’t put people in office who put our country’s needs first?
We are living in the most troubling times I have ever experienced, and if it weren’t for my faith, I’d be crazy by now. Watching the news minimally and spending less time on social media helps. Keeping a prayer journal is a great way to keep your mind on the good things.
We have so much to be thankful for. Do you have a roof over your head and food in your refrigerator? Do you have a car to drive? Are you surrounded by good people? Then count your blessings. You have so much more than many others.
When I’m having trouble staying positive and focusing on my blessings, I pray and ask the Holy Spirit to help me. The other day, I had to deal with an upsetting situation with a sick feral cat. I was a mess and crying my eyes out. I said, “Lord, please take this pain from me. Please help me to see that the poor boy is no longer suffering and stop being overwhelmed with sadness.”
The peace that came over me can only be attributed to God. If you are in pain or distraught over an issue, give it to God and ask Him to give you His peace. You will be glad you did.
I hope you are having a blessed day. Thanks for taking the time to read my newsletter. God bless, Cat
