Flag Day, Firestorms, and Faith (Why I’m Still Hopeful for America)
As the nation unravels in some places, I’m holding tight to the One who holds it all together.

As I sit down to write this week’s Sunday post, it’s Flag Day. It’s a day that’s supposed to remind us of our unity, our freedom, and the blessings we enjoy as Americans. It also happens to be President Trump’s birthday. I don’t believe our president’s birthday falling on Flag Day is a coincidence. Like many Christians, I believe God is using Trump to save our country from destruction.
I know he was saved from an assassin’s bullet by millimeters by the Lord. God used the incident to humble our president and remind him that he is God’s tool, and that without God on his side, he didn’t have a chance of fulfilling his dream to bring our country back to its Judeo-Christian roots and days of grandeur. President Trump tends to be a bit full of himself, but he couldn’t have accomplished what he has without his strong, determined, and confident personality. It’s the reason God chose him for the job.
No one should be shocked by these protests. When Craigslist ads are recruiting rioters and deep-pocketed puppeteers are bankrolling chaos in L.A.—all aimed at sabotaging ICE and law enforcement for doing their jobs—you know it’s orchestrated. As a born-and-raised Californian (now gratefully escaped), I watched the slow-motion collapse of the not-so-Golden State. It didn’t fall in a day, but Newsom slammed the gas pedal. My husband and I voted to recall him three times before finally saying, “Enough!” and getting out.
I don’t waste my time with mainstream media. I stick with Newsmax and Flashpoint—truth-tellers who actually do their homework. Flashpoint sounded the alarm and called believers to prayer because they’d already uncovered the plans: protests were being organized in blue cities, and Craigslist ads were out there recruiting paid agitators. Call them “protesters” if you want, but anyone smarter than a potted plant—or whose elevator actually reaches the top floor—knows what’s really happening. Nobody’s handing out fat checks to peaceful sign-holders. That money’s fueling mayhem.
All of us in the Flashpoint Army are praying for truth to win out and for blind eyes to be opened. As we prepare to leave our Texas home base for five months of travel and volunteer work, I couldn’t help but feel the weight of what’s going on in our country. It’s heavy. The division, the lies, the confusion—it’s enough to make you want to pull the shades and hide in your RV. But we weren’t called to hide. We were called to pray.
We don’t curse the darkness—we light candles. And prayer, friends, is the brightest flame we’ve got.
What the Flag Still Means to Me
The American flag has always meant something special to me. I’m a flag-flying, freedom-loving patriot. But more than that, I’m a believer who knows this country was founded on godly principles, and I’m not ashamed to say it. When I see Old Glory waving in the wind, I don’t just see stars and stripes—I see sacrifice, courage, and the hope that we can still be a nation under God if we return to Him.
President Trump’s Birthday and the Battle We Can’t See
Love him or hate him, President Trump’s name always stirs the pot. And on his birthday, the enemy has ramped up the chaos again. Satan has plenty of puppets to keep the protests escalating and the dissonance going. People are angry, scared, and more divided than ever. But let’s not get it twisted—this isn’t just about politics. It’s a spiritual battle, plain and simple.
Ephesians 6:12 spells it out for us: “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against rulers, authorities, and the powers of this dark world...” If you’re feeling a little beat down or discouraged by what you’re seeing in the news, it might be time to turn off the TV and hit your knees.
Now Is the Time to Pray Like Never Before
If you’ve been waiting for a sign to start praying more boldly, this is it.
Let’s not forget 2 Chronicles 7:14: Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. God isn’t asking for perfection. He’s asking for repentance. For humility. For hearts that seek Him first, before the news, before the votes, before we post our opinions on social media.
Tommy and I may be hitting the road for a new assignment, but our commitment to pray for our country is stronger than ever. And I’m inviting you to join us.
Here’s How We Can Pray Right Now:
Pray for peace to overwhelm the violence and hatred
Pray for wisdom and protection for President Trump (and our current leaders, too, even the ones we didn’t vote for)
Pray for a great awakening in the Church
Pray for truth to rise and lies to be exposed
Pray for courage—for pastors, parents, and patriots to speak the truth in love
The Good News: We Know Who’s Really in Charge
This Flag Day, I’m reminded that no matter who’s in office or how loud the protests get, God is still on the throne. He hasn’t blinked. He hasn’t turned His back. And He hasn’t given up on America.
So, while the flags wave, the crowds shout, and the politician’s scheme, I’ll be over here praying. Loud and clear. Confident in the One who holds it all together.
We are heading out early tomorrow. I have no idea what kind of chaos will have erupted overnight. I’m praying that the most battle-tested, backbone-blessed leader in modern history, Donald J. Trump, had an amazing and blessed birthday. God knew what He was doing when He chose the man who shares his birthday with Flag Day. The flag stands for courage, sacrifice, and truth—and so does the man who refuses to back down. While others burn flags and tear down what’s good, I’ll be over here praying, praising, and flying Old Glory with pride.
