I planned to rake our property today, so I wasn’t pushing for my daily 10,000 steps when I walked this morning. I had an unexpected early start when the cat I feed in the Village, while her people are away, found our RV and meowed outside our window at 6:30 am. She’s never done that before. I couldn’t stand listening to her sad voice, so I dressed and went to give her breakfast.

Since it was already 67 degrees outside, I decided to swing by and see if Blackie, the dog I walk daily, was outside. She was, and I wound up getting in more steps than were planned for my morning before tackling the enormous raking job. I’d raked up a few piles of leaves when this crazy idea hit me.

I would take a screenshot of my steps before I started, show my subscribers photos of it and the job before and after, and see if anyone could guess how many steps it added to my total. I could give a one-year paid subscription to the person who guessed the closest. How much fun is that?

I hope you’ll play along. It should be fun. I’ll provide some necessary information to accompany the photos. The pictures don’t capture the extent of the leaves on our site, and the pile at the end of the job blends out in the image. Trust me, it was ginormous!

I raked leaves, stacked them on top of a tarp, and pulled the tarp to the front of the property to pile them where the city will pick them up next week. I’ll tell you right now that I'll flip my lid if we experience the winds we had earlier this week and my pile is scattered everywhere.

I worked hard for a little over two hours before my 65-year-old bod said, “Stop, or I’ll kill you.”

I lost count of the trips to the pile and couldn’t finish the job. Starting it when I already had almost 8,000 steps in was not my most brilliant move. 🙄
