Are You Ready for a Saturday Stretch? (I Love My New Routine!)
Have you been ignoring the professionals for decades, too?
After years of heading out to get in my 10,000 steps and not bothering to stretch, I’ve got a new routine you should try. There is no need to pay for expensive programs or join a health club. I live in a 45-foot motorhome and do these low-impact experiences and stretches in my bedroom.
There are many articles on the importance of stretching before exercise. In my case, exercise has consisted of walking. I’m embarrassed that I’ve ignored the advice to stretch for years. One of my good friends in RVICS told me she and her husband stretch daily, and I got inspired. You should probably do this at least three days a week. I was inspired to share it with you today, hence the Saturday Stretch title.
I am not an affiliate and don’t share these videos with you to benefit financially. The benefit I receive is knowing I can help someone like me who has neglected some essentials in caring for their bodies. In many ways, getting in 10,000 steps daily is excellent for your health. But doing it without stretching increases the chance of falling or breaking something. I broke my ankle in 2018 but failed to learn my lesson about stretching.
I’m sharing my yes2next YouTube videos, which I am now hooked on. They are great for seniors like me, and you can feel that they work immediately. When a YouTube channel has 444 thousand subscribers, and one video alone has had 1.8 million views, you know it’s good.
I set my phone alarm to get my backside out of my recliner to do these stretches and exercises before I head out on my walk. The Gentle Stretching for Seniors Beginning Workout only takes twelve minutes to complete and stretches your entire body. April, the instructor, does the video with her mother by her side to show how doable these exercises are, even for someone well into their senior years.
After I watch the video and enjoy the fabulous benefits of a good stretch, I do April’s Standing Abs Workout. It takes 17 minutes, and you will feel it working right away. You’d be amazed how ten simple moves can give you such a great core workout. When I’m finished watching the video and head out for my walk, I feel great knowing I’ve done something for my body that can’t be accomplished by walking alone.
We’re never too old to learn and make improvements to our health.
