65th Birthday retreat post #4 Day 4 at the Airbnb (It Just Keeps Getting Better!)
This birthday celebration is one for the record books!
My fourth day started with some writing and FaceTiming with my honey. Tommy said Paddy misses his mom a lot. He’s been spending much of the day in his hiding place, which he retreats to when we are driving the motorhome. It’s the first time I left him alone with his dad in six years. Tommy couldn’t get him to come close to the phone, but I got to see my boy, and he got to hear my voice.
Tommy has been getting supplies for the screen room addition to our shed delivered but hasn’t been able to get much work done because of the weather. The rain is supposed to stop today, and he’s looking forward to making progress on the project. Enough of the happenings at home. On to the party house!
I got my walk in before it started raining. As usual, many deer were frolicking, and it was a pleasant walk. I made a frittata for Betsey and me for breakfast on my return. Even when it’s raining, this place is great. It was so foggy you couldn’t see the hills, but the rain chain was beautiful.

The best-laid plans can go awry and still turn out great. My hostess, Bridgit, had a tummy issue yesterday, so she and her friends didn’t make it to the retreat. Betsey’s sister, Jill, arrived at 2:00, and she’s a party all by herself. She’s one of the most bubbly, fun, and positive people you could ever hope to meet.
She brought some tasty Jello shots, but they weren’t the kind we made at Johnny’s. These consist of a small Jello cup with some vanilla liqueur poured on top, and you eat it with a spoon. She makes the most minor things seem special.
While Betsey soaked up more worship music in the media room, Jill and I played shuffleboard. We had a blast. As with the games between me and her sister, it was a back-and-forth situation. One of us would pull way ahead, and we were tied again the next thing you know. There was a one-point differential at the end of the game. We were laughing so much that I can’t remember who won. I’ll have to check our score sheet today.

Jill fixed us some spinach and cheese tortellini for dinner. She brought plenty of food to add to the provisions. If this keeps up, we’ll be filling the fridge in the basement, too. We’re eating good in the neighborhood. 😋ᵞᵁᴹᴹᵞ😋
After dinner, it was game time. We played Yahtzee All In again; it was even more fun with the three of us. Once again, I don’t recall who the winner was. We were off to the hot tub after that. Jill cracked me up. She entered the tub as slowly as I would a 50-degree swimming pool. That may be the temperature of the pool here. I was shocked when Betsey headed to it as if she would get in after the hot tub. She put her toe in and decided that was enough.
When we got out, it was 10:30, which, as you all know, was past my bedtime. I was exhausted after not getting even five hours of sleep the night before. All I wanted to do was fall into bed. Betsey jumped into the shower without turning the music off on the living room speakers, and it was blasting. There were lights on the stairs that led up to my little balcony, and my curtains didn’t close completely. It’s a problem we’re addressing today.
Once again, this place needs a darn manual. I was flipping switches everywhere and couldn’t find the right one. I finally had to text Bridgit, hoping I wasn’t waking her up. She was up and told me to call her. She led me right to where the lights were plugged in, which weren’t supposed to be.
There should have been a sign on them that said, “Do not plug in.” Better yet, take them down. The next-door neighbors had complained about their brightness when trying to sleep. If they bothered the neighbors, you know I wasn’t going to get any sleep with them right outside my window.
Betsey turned the speakers off, the lights were out, and I hit the bed. I left the girls visiting in front of the fireplace. We finally got a handle on the temperature around her by leaving all the thermostats set at 71 and the fireplace running. It was a pleasant night, and I improved my sleep score by nine points and got almost six hours of sleep. I may need a vacation from my vacation to recuperate.
Bridgit assures me that at least four ladies will be added to her group today, and my RVICS pals Sandy and Cheryl are on their way. I should have some great stories to share tomorrow. Thanks for coming along. Have a blessed day.
Hang tough party girl! I know you have it in ya!!!!
It sounds like a wonderful fun filled “birthday” time with friends 🎉 God is good and I’ll be saying a little prayer for your cat, Paddy. If I don’t stay in a routine with my cat well let’s just say she gets “stomach issues” that end up costing me like $600 at the vet.
Thank you for sharing 🙏
